Not too long ago I was newbie trying to figure out how to make money online. After years of buying a bunch of courses, watching hours of youtube videos, and reading hundreds of articles, I realized that the most important thing I need to do is “build a list”.

I realized that all the gurus and “big money makers” had a list.

So, I decided to spend all my time building a list in a niche that was already proven to be profitable.

Fast forward to now and I’ve built multiple lists, in various niches, and I’m making good money from these lists thanks to the tips I’m going to share with you today.

I’m going to show you how to go from zero to have a list of thousands of subscribers who open your emails and buy your stuff.

Does that sound good or what?

Well, I’m not one of those guys who will tell you what you want to hear just so you feel good.

I’m going to tell you the truth.

The truth is anyone can build a quality list of subscribers in pretty much any niche, but there are some things you need to watch out for which I will address right now.

First, if you want to build a quality list you need to make it a priority. Forget about all the other bull crap you may have read elsewhere, and focus on building your list.

Every single day you should be adding new subscribers to your list without fail.

This is not a “when you feel like it” kind of thing. The only way to build a quality list of thousands of subscribers is to be consistent with your efforts.

The second thing is, you don’t need a lot of money to build a list. You don’t have to spend thousands on paid advertising. I didn’t and neither do you. There are effective free and paid traffic methods, and it’s up to you to choose the methods that work best for you.

Everyone’s situation is different, but my recommendation is to combine both free and paid traffic methods.

Lastly, when you start building your list, don’t worry about unsubscribes. No matter what you do there will be people on your list who will unsubscribe. Just focus on applying the tips I give you below and don’t worry about how many people unsubscribe as long as you’re not spamming your list or sending emails that don’t make any sense.

Okay now that we’ve got that out the way, it’s time to get into the juicy part!

I’m going to share with you some powerful tips that will take your list building to an expert level in record time.

#1 Relevant Content = Happy Subscribers

One of the biggest problems people make with list building, is that people send emails to their subscribers that just flat out “stink”.

The emails are boring and irrelevant. I’ll admit that I’m guilty of doing this myself in the past. I used to write to my subscribers without thinking about whether they care about what I’m saying in the email.

So, the solution to that problem is to ask your readers what they want. Ask them what their problems and obstacles are that are preventing them from achieving their goals.

If you want to know what good emails look like, then go and find the gurus and authorities in your niche and sign up to their lists so you can get some ideas. In most cases, the gurus have been in their niche’s for a long time, and should have a good understanding of what the audience wants in their particular niche. This will make your job a lot easier.

Once you know what your audience wants, then all you have to do is give it to them while adding your own unique style and twist to the content. For example, when I send out content emails to my list, I add personal stories to the content to make my emails more entertaining.

#2 Offer Spectacular Freebies To Entice Audience To Optin To Your List

Please don’t go and find a plr and use it exactly how it is. If you’re going to use plr, then make sure to rewrite it and make it unique. When you’re done with that plr it should be 10 times better.

The reason I say this is because the goal is to build a list of “quality” subsribers, and the only way to attract quality subscribers is to create quality content. There is no way around that.

I tried doing the whole plr thing in the past and it’s not a smart move if you want to build a “high quality” list. The only exception would be if you find an extremely awesome piece of plr, which is very rare.

Also, make sure to make your freebie relevant to your newsletter and the future offers you plan on promoting. So for example, if you were selling a 8-week video course that shows people how to burn fat and lose weight, then your freebie could be “5 tips that will help you shed fat in the next 24 hours”.

#3 Create Viral Content (articles and videos)

Your content should be extremely valuable, entertaining, and informative. A lot of people make the mistake of focusing on quantity instead of quality. Think of it this way. Would you rather write 3 really awesome articles and have 1 of them go viral or would you rather write 50 articles and have none of them go viral?

I’m speaking from experience when I say that focusing on quality and depth I so much better than focusing on quantity and width. When you create content you should ask yourself how you can create content that is so amazing that people can’t believe they’re getting it for free.

If you do that then your content will end up being the best in your niche and you will stand out from the crowd who are focusing on creating a bunch of articles while sacrificing quality.

Focus on quality and you people will love and share your content.

Wondering what to do next after you create awesome content?

Well, I recommend you share your content in related forums, facebook groups, and other social media platforms. If your content is valuable, informative, and entertaining, then you will have a great chance of your content going viral.

Word of mouth spreads faster than anything and it’s also very powerful because it’s the highest converting form of marketing there is.

So, why write a gazillion articles, when you could just write 3-5 super awesome articles or record 3-5 awesome videos and let other people do all the marketing for you?

#4 Interview Experts In Your Niche

One of the fastest ways to boost your credibility in your niche is to be associated with the top experts in your niche. So, how do you do this you ask? Well, it’s very simple my friend.

All you need to do is reach out to 5 of the top experts in your niche, bundle up the recordings, and either turn it into a free giveaway or sell it as a product.

The great thing about doing this, is you will be building relationships with experts in your niche by going through this process and they will more than likely be willing to help you promote the interviews.

You can also put a call-to-action at the end of each interview to check out your site.

Just imagine if you create a squeeze page, and giveaway 5 interviews with the top experts in your niche and those experts agree to send the interview to their list. You will become a celebrity almost overnight and you will have a constant stream of people coming to your site every day just from doing 5 interviews.

#5 Use Entry And Exit Popups On Your Website

Whether you like em or hate em, entry and exit popups work!

If you have an awesome freebie, then you should do everything in power to get it in the hands of your target audience because it will build your brand and of course, build your list.

You can find a bunch of plugins online that will allow you to setup an entry or exit popup on your site. I also recommend you use the popups that only popup once for each person individually. Nobody likes those popups that come up every-time you visit a site. That is the fastest way to annoy your audience and repel them from ever coming back to your site.

#6 Create Content Daily Designed To Attract Your Target Audience

Write an article a day and make sure to have a call-to-action to your optin page where people can get a free ecourse of some sort. You’re probably wondering where can you post and share your article.

Well, there are a couple different places you can share your article. You can share your articles in relevant forums, Facebook groups, your Facebook personal page and business page, other social media sites. The goal is to create an awesome article that goes in-depth on the topic. If shared in the right places, your article will attract your target audience to you and position you as an authority. Your readers will see the call-to-action at the end of the video and sign up for the free ecourse in exchange for their email address.

#7 Create A Sales Letter For Your Free Newsletter

Writing a sales letter for your free newsletter will allow you to attract your target audience by allowing them to experience emotions associated with solving a problem and then realize that they’re going to get a solution for free!

Most people know that after reading a sales letter or watching a sales video, that they will be pitched with an offer at the end. So, you will stand-out from the competition by creating sales letters and then at the end you tell the viewer that they will be getting a FREE newsletter that will help them achieve their goals.

The goal with the sales letter is to hit on the pain points of the problems your target audience is experiencing, and then position the newsletter as the solution to all their problems. Make it sound so amazing that they can’t believe that it’s a free newsletter.

#8 Forum Marketing

Forum marketing is a great way to build your list full of high quality prospects, and I will explain the process here.

First, you need to find forums in your niche by searching for “your niche + forum” on Google. Once you search for forums you will find a bunch of different forums to choose from. I recommend you sign up for the top 3 most active forums and read through the posts.

When looking through the posts, you should be able to identify the experts and authorities in the forum. Once you find out who the experts and authorities are, make it your business to create more value in the forums than everyone else. This can be done by answering people’s questions in detail, and providing the best solutions to their problems by writing detailed articles.

Some forums will allow you to have a signature where you can add your website. If not, you can add your website to your profile when you sign up. When you focus on creating a ton of value in the forum, people will check out your profile and check out your website. You will also have people who will private message you for personal help. When that happens, you can help those people and refer them to your website where they can sign up to your email list and get a freebie as well as valuable emails from you.

#9 Ad Swaps

Ad swaps are simply the act of trading ads with other publishers and marketers in your niche.

You can find other publishers by typing in “your niche ezine” or “your niche newsletter” on Google.

When you find people who have email lists, you can ask them if they’re interested in doing adswaps. Be personal and address them by their name to increase your chances of getting a response.

For example, if I was in the dating niche, I would search Google for “dating ezine” or “dating newsletter”. Then I would check out the first 5-10 sites that come back in the search results.

I would reach out to the owner of each newsletter via email or Facebook and send them a message like this: “Hey John, I have a list of 500 subscribers in the dating niche and I’d like to know if you’d be interested in doing an ad swap. I have an excellent report that I wrote about how to get a date in 24 hours and I know your list will find it very valuable. Let me know if you’re interested and then we can work something out.

#10 Create a Contest

Here is a creative way to build your list fast. Entice people to join your list so they can win something valuable.

The key to making this work is to make the prize relevant to the niche.

For example, if you were in the weight loss niche, you could do a drawing for everyone who subscribes to your list and at a specific time and day you will choose 1 person who will get a custom diet and workout plan from you that normally costs $500.
